Boater Education - Training

CLASSROOM AND HANDS ON BOAT TRAINING PROGRAMS

Cap'n Dave's Marine Services during the off season months or by special arrangement will provide the public several options of boating safety courses. The company primary owners are Texas Parks and Wildlife instructors and are authorized to present the Texas State course along with our own company enhanced training topics. The Company can provide options for the training to include hands-on lessions for captains and crewmembers/spouses/family members. Cap'n Dave's is prepared teach the following courses:

  • Texas Parks and Wildlife Boating Safety course
  • Basic hands-on boating course for the new boat owner
  • “Captains TOO” familiarization class for spouses
  • Basic Maintenance and care of your boat / PWC
  • General introduction to “How to use your GPS”
  • “So you want to buy a Boat” class
  • General Lake Familiarization and hazards course

These courses are designed if the person has no experience handling a powerboat, we can insure that there boating days on the water are safe and enjoyable ones for them and family members. The intent is to turn their concerns and lack of knowledge into confidence and competence at the helm.

If there are experienced powerboat owners who just purchased a larger power boat or who is changing boat designs, they can also benefit from a few hours of powerboat training bringing their skill level up to the demands required to safely handle a new powerboat.

Last, a class for the spouse or friend who wants to learn to operate the boat to make your family boating activities or cruises more enjoyable for everyone in the family. We maintain an extremely low student to instructor ratio in order to focus on the skill levels of each student.
